Microsoft is set to roll out an update that allows users to open their Outlook email app and Edge browser at the same time without having to switch windows for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plan subscribers.  That means, you can now open links from email on Edge along with the original message in the browser’s sidebar pane, letting you access all the information within the same window.

Are Outlook and Edge the only apps to have this multitasking integration?

The good answer is no. In the future, Microsoft also promises that the update will be applied to Teams. From then onwards, you can open links from your Teams’ conversations on Edge in a single view that helps you engage better in the topic.  It’s not too big of an update—after all, you can still resize the windows however you want and keep all of them displayed at the same time— but still, it’s a thoughtful step forward to let users multitask smarter with less disruption.  Do you multitask a lot with Edge and Outlook?
